
1 cup Butter
2 1/2 cups Flour
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 ounce Red food coloring
1 teaspoon Water
2 teaspoons Cocoa
1 teaspoon Salt -- scant teaspoon
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 cup Buttermilk
1 teaspoon Vinegar
-----CREAM CHEESE FROSTING-----
8 ounces Cream cheese -- softened
1 pound Powdered sugar
1/4 cup Butter -- softened
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract

- Cake: Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, and beat well. Add coloring and water.
- Sift flour, salt, soda and cocoa together, and add to creamed mixture with milk and vanilla. Add vinegar (fold in lightly.) Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Cream Cheese Frosting is delicious on this cake. Frosting: With electric mixer, beat all ingredients together until light and creamy.
